    2. What are the hardware/software specifications required to operate the new system? - Top

    Star Parts is a Windows-based application and will operate on standard PC hardware. Choosing the hardware to run Star Parts in the dealership is the responsibility of each individual dealer. DaimlerChrysler has contracted with IBM to offer a PC that meets the established minimum configuration to run all Customer Connect applications like Star Parts. Although each dealer is free to choose any computer they like, provided it meets the minimum requirements to run Star Parts as outlined below. If you require equipment at this time and are interested in the Customer Connect equipment please call 1-800-374-4040. The specifications for this PC have been published previously and are referred to as the Customer Connect PC.

    Listed below are the minimum hardware specifications to run StarParts:

    Processor: Pentium Speed: 1GHZ

    Memory (RAM): 256 MB

    Memory (Disk): 20.4 GB

    DVD Drive: 6X IBM Network Adapter: 10/100 MB

    Sound Card: Sound Blaster 3D Video: 8MB SVGA

    Monitor: 17 inch with 1024 X 768 Speakers: Yes

    Modem: 56Kb Printer: Hewlett Packard 6Mp/equivalent

    Operating System: Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP

    High Speed Internet Line: We recommend DSL, ADSL, T1, Frac T1 or Cable Modem with a minimum 128k bandwidth per PC.
    Star Parts will not run on a dial-up phone modem.
    Per dealer feedback: Satellite and Wireless connections have not proved to be as efficient.

    3. What does my dealership infrastructure need in order to run Star Parts? - Top

    The Dealer Technology Operations department at DaimlerChrysler has published the guidelines for the dealer network direction. These guidelines will help you to prepare your dealership to run Star Parts as well as the other Customer Connect applications. You can download these guidelines from the Star Parts web site at http://starparts.chrysler.com. From the home page, select Pilot Dealers from the menu on the left, and then click the Dealer Infrastructure Document item from the menu at the top of the page.

    Star Parts is part of a standard offering within a suite of dealer tools delivered through Customer Connect. Star Parts is part of the Dealer Technology charge.
